The AMD Opteron™ 6100 Series processor is a high-performing 8-core embedded processor that addresses the demanding needs of embedded enterprise markets including telecommunications, storage, network security, and medical imaging. These applications require a high performance, balanced system architecture – and the AMD Opteron 6100 Series processor is designed to meet the need.

Delivering high-performance throughput for data communication systems requires high memory bandwidth to manage the router tables and exceptional I/O bandwidth to deliver the network payload. The AMD Opteron 6100 Series processor is the only processor with 4 channels of DDR3 memory and up to 12 DIMMs per CPU for the highest available memory bandwidth – peak 42.7GB/s at DDR3-1333.

Storage appliances require high performance network connectivity and disk throughput and the AMD Opteron 6100 Series processor is the only available option today with four 16-bit lanes of HyperTransport™ 3.0 Technology links for 25GB/s peak bandwidth per link between processors and I/O. Embedded systems can also benefit from multiple AMD 5600 Series chipsets for tremendous I/O connectivity to PCIe® Gen 2 interfaces such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Infiniband, FCoE. This massive data throughput can meet the I/O performance required by today’s systems, as well as tomorrow’s system demands.
