The ASUS ESC4000 G2S is the latest supercomputer based on the dual Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v2 processor platform, featuring streamlined design for improved airflow and lower running costs, six vertically-oriented hot-swappable 2.5" SATA HDD bays, 1+1 80 PLUS Platinum 1620W redundant power supplies and 8+1 PCI-E Gen3 x16 expansion slots. It delivers high density computing power, scalable expansion capability and an intelligent thermal solution, all in a green design, making it an ideal choice for the applications in the field of life and medical science, engineering science, financial modeling and virtualization.
The ESC4000 G2S supports up to eight PCI-E Gen3 x16 slots for high expandability, compatible with versatile expansion cards, especially in supporting up-to-date Intel® Xeon Phi™ 7120P, 5110P and 3100 series as well as NVIDIA Tesla K40/K20/K10 Family and GRIDTM K1/K2 of GPU accelerators. In addition, there is an optional riser for a low profile/half-length card and PIKE solution.
ESC4000 G2S features vertically-oriented hard disk drive (HDD) bays. The smart arrangement frees up space on either side of the drive bays, allowing stronger and more direct airflow from the front panel to the GPUs and other components, delivering better energy efficiency and power savings. Additionally, streamlined airflow to the heat-generating components allows the temperature of the GPU cards to be reduced. The temperature of GPU card in ESC4000 G2S is decreased by 10% compared to that in ESC4000 G2 while the fan is spinning in full speed. And under the same loading condition, the power consumption comes from system fans which are dedicated to GPU in ESC4000 G2S is decreased by 20% and the temperature is dropping 5% compared to ESC4000 G2. Therefore, ESC4000 G2S servers’ optimized airflow allows better performance for mission-critical calculations and applications.
