crossbase.pro is used to perform administrative tasks and bulk data maintenance. Administration includes tasks such as:

• Creating attributes and, if necessary, lists of values for subsequent maintenance of product features
• Defining text types, image categories, keywords and mandatory fields
• Creating media file format templates, which convert image files into defined media-friendly formats during import

Based on these settings, product information is then maintained. This includes processes such as:

• Assigning features to items in a structure similar to Excel
• Importing and linking images and documents
• Bringing together source-language texts and translations
• Linking products to create product relationships
• Maintaining catalog range and price data.

The inheritance concept greatly simplifies this work. The "quick click function" can be used to process data in the info area, where all the information about a selected element is shown at a click of the mouse.

Media elements, text elements and linked items from the selected folder in the marketing structure are displayed in the element area. All the information about the selected item is displayed in the info area and can be processed by simply clicking on it.

• Media file maintenance and search function: crossbase can be used to manage any number of formats and media files; structuring takes the form of groupings, categorisations, keywords, captions and other metadata. The structuring is flexible and can be expanded and adapted at any time.

In order for images and documents to be used for various media, languages and markets, the media files are encapsulated in media- and language-neutral media elements which are identified for specific markets (countries, branches of industry, target groups).

During the import process, other target formats are produced using the graphics converter; pixel and vector graphics are handled in specific ways and the colour fidelity of embedded colour profiles is taken into consideration. Extensive search options, downloads or e-mails, check-in/check-out mechanisms and archiving round out the scope of functions.

• Bulk data maintenance for product features: The item master data in the ERP system is generally insufficient for customer-oriented, market- and media-specific product communication. Additional maintenance work is required for this.

Product features can be edited in bulk in tabular format with the help of specific feature lists with a comparison function. One click displays all the positions where the product is used, for instance as an accessory, spare part or product recommendation.

• Text maintenance and search function: The same texts in different versions and country/language combinations are encapsulated in a text element in the same way as media files. The text elements are assigned to products or media, categorised using text types and filtered in search requests.

You can perform a text search using various text categories, such as full item name, suitability, SAP text or benefits. With one click, all places where the text element is used are displayed.
