IBM Spectrum® Virtualize for Public Cloud V8.3.0 delivers a powerful solution for the deployment of IBM Spectrum Virtualize in hybrid multicloud configurations that include private and public clouds, supporting IBM Cloud™ and now Amazon Web Services (AWS). Support for AWS enables deployment of IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud on supported AWS Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances, and virtualizes Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS). The solution is deployable through AWS Marketplace. Users can create secondary copies of their on-premises data in the public cloud for disaster recovery, workload mobility, or migration of data between on-premises data centers and the public cloud. The software will be accompanied by several blueprint guides for complete application-aware hybrid cloud deployments.

IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud V8.3.0 adds support for AWS running on EC2 and virtualizing elastic block storage. IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud delivers a powerful solution for the deployment of IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud in hybrid multicloud configurations that include private and public clouds, supporting IBM Cloud and now AWS. Support for AWS enables deployment of IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud on AWS EC2 instances, and virtualizes Amazon EBS. It is deployed through the AWS Marketplace. This new capability provides a monthly term license to deploy and use IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud in IBM Cloud or AWS to enable hybrid multicloud solutions, offering the ability to transfer block data between on-premises data centers using any IBM Spectrum Virtualize appliance. For example, SVC, FlashSystem V9000, FlashSystem 9100, Storwize V7000, Storwize V5100 and VersaStack with FlashSystem 9100, Storwize family or SVC appliances. Users can create secondary copies of their on-premises data in the public cloud for disaster recovery, workload redistribution, or migration of data from on-premises data centers to the public cloud, or between public cloud data centers.
