SBI-7428R-C3 is a compact self-contained server that connects into a pre-cabled enclosure that provides power, cooling, management and networking functions. One enclosure for the SBI-7428R-C3N blade module can hold fourteen blade units.
The SBI-7428R-C3N blade module supports dual 2011-pin (LGA 2011 Socket R3) Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 series processors. The SBI-7428R-C3N blade module has sixteen (16) 288-pin DDR4 DIMM sockets that can support up to 256 GB of 16 GB, 8 GB or 4 GB VLP RDIMM size, 2133/1866/1600 MHz speed SDRAM. Memory is interleaved, which requires modules of the same size and speed to be installed in groups (of two or three).
The SBI-7428R-C3N blade module can have three 2.5" Hot-swap HDD/SSD/NVMe SAS3 hard disk drives in front-mounted easy removable carriers. Only the SBI-7428R-C3N blade module can support NVMe drives. The NVM Express ports available in the SBI-7428R-C3N blade module provide high-speed, low-latency connections directly from the CPU to NVMe Solid State drives (SSDs). This greatly increases SSD throughput and significantly reduces storage device latency by simplifying driver and software requirements resulting from the direct PCI-E interface between the CPU and the NVMe SSD drives.
A maximum of fourteen blade modules may be installed into a single blade enclosure. Each blade enclosure is a 7U form factor, so a standard 42U rack may accommodate up to six 14-blade enclosures with 84 blade modules, or the equivalent of 84 1U servers. With the inclusion of six CMM modules, twelve Gigabit Ethernet switches and six InfiniBand switches, this would occupy up to 108U space in a conventional 1U server configuration.
