The SuperServer 2028R-C1R4+ is a server comprised of two main subsystems: the SC213AC-R920LPB 2U server chassis and the X10DRC-LN4+ dual processor serverboard. The SuperServer 2028R-C1R4+ features four 10GBaseT LAN ports.

At the heart of the SuperServer 2028R-C1R4+ lies the X10DRC-LN4+ dual processor serverboard based upon the Intel PCH C612 chipset. Each serverboard supports up to two Intel Xeon E5-2600 V3 processors with Socket R3-LGA 2011. Each processor supports dual full-width Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) links (of up to 9.6 GT/s one direction per QPI).

Each serverboard has 24 DIMM slots that can support up to 1.5TB of Load Reduced (LRDIMM) ECC registered memory or up to 768GB of registered (RDIMM) DDR4 ECC modules 2133/1866/1600 MHz. A SATA controller is integrated into the chipset for 10 SATA3 (6Gbps) ports that support RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. The SATA drives are hot-swappable units.
