The SuperServer F617R3-FT+ is a high-end server comprised of two main subsystems: the F418IF-R1K62B 4U server chassis and the X9DRFF-i+ dual processor serverboard in eight hot-swap nodes.

At the heart of the SuperServer F617R3-FT+ lies the X9DRFF-i+, a dual processor serverboard based on the Intel® C602 chipset and designed to provide maximum performance. Two of these serverboards can be mounted in the F418IF-R1K62B chassis

The X9DRFF-i+ supports single or dual Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 series processors. Each processor supports four full-width Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) links, with support of up to 25.6 GT/s per QPI link and with Data Transfer Rate of up to 8.0 GT/s per direction.

Each X9DRFF-i+ serverboard node has sixteen (16) DIMM slots supporting up to 512 GB of DDR3-1600/1333/1066/800 MHz speed RDIMM/LDIMM registered ECC or 128 GB of DDR3-1600/1333/1066/800 MHz speed UDIMM in up to 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB size at 1.35V or 1.5V voltages.

A Serial ATA controller is integrated into the C602 to provide up to a four-port SATA subsystem, (two SATA 3 (6 Gb/s) and two SATA 2 (3 Gb/s). RAID 0 and 1 (AHCI SATA3) or RAID 0 and 1 (AHCI SATA2) are supported. The SATA drives are fixed units.
